Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) is essential safeguarding guidance issued by the Department for Education (DfE), and it's something every English school, college, and education provider relies on to train and prepare staff to protect pupils.
Normally, the updated KCSiE guidance is released by late May and takes effect from 1st September each year, giving schools time to align training and processes. But this year, there's a problem.
The 2025 KCSiE update hasn’t been released yet. No statement from the DfE. No timeline. And with the new academic year fast approaching, many schools and education recruiters are understandably anxious.
This year’s delay may be due to significant legislative developments, including the Online Safety Act, the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, and the Crime and Policing Bill—all of which could impact safeguarding duties and training requirements.
So, where does that leave your safeguarding training?
👉 Here’s the good news: With CandidateGo, you’re covered.
As soon as new guidance is published, we will begin updating our safeguarding, Prevent, online safety and other related training — so it’s fully aligned and ready for you well before it takes effect.
